He first came onto the scene in great physical conditioning in the film Van Wilder, then in Blade Trinity. In that film, you could see he really packed on the muscle and was ripped to shreds. For the film Green Lantern he played the character Hal Jordan.

However, he had to add some additional muscle size. Similar to what he did with X-Men origins Wolverine when he played the character of Wade Wilson or Deadpool. In fact, rumor has it that they’re going to be filming a new film based on the character Deadpool which is supposed to be released sometime in 2014.

For this film he again used celebrity personal trainer Bobby Strom.

Strom is a former competitive body builder and was very confident that he could get him ripped and back into shape in only 18 weeks. The Green Lantern workout use a combination of strength training, resistance bands, yoga, cardio, and even Pilates. It was a strenuous and exhausting workout.

In order to get his fitness session done he had to train between 5 and 7 AM.

In addition to strength training he also had to take lessons on using a Samurai Sword. The workouts used a “Functional Fitness” approach. Functional fitness combines isometrics, resistance bands training, weight lifting, along with stability and core movements.
